An outsider's perspective on a regional problem.
In January 2023, I arrived in Tallinn knowing almost no one and understanding very little about how business actually worked in the Nordic-Baltic region.
I am a lawyer from Nairobi. I had been building Kontorva — a company connecting skilled African engineers with European organisations. The business was growing and needed a proper European base. I looked at Germany, Portugal, a startup visa programme in the UK. Then I came across Estonia.
By the end of 2023 I had incorporated through e-Residency, been granted a Finnish-Estonian Startup Visa, and gone through the Tehnopol incubator. In 2025, I relocated permanently to Helsinki on a Finnish Entrepreneurship Permit.
What that two-year process taught me — from the outside, under real conditions, with no prior network — is that the Nordic region is not one market. It is four distinct regulatory environments, four languages, four business registry systems, sitting inside a single economic ecosystem that companies treat as more or less unified.
NordicB2B exists because that friction is solvable — and because the most natural way to solve it is to build the architecture right the first time.
